Up Is Down, Down Is Up

I just finished reading "Life, The Universe, and Everything", and I am now starting "the Big Sleep". These are the two most opposite books ever. One is florid and full of puns, witticisms, cricket, science fiction, what-have-you, and the other is a hard-boiled, no-nonsense, simple prose piece of noir crime drama. It's crazy to go from reading one to reading the other. Crazy, I tells you.

What?!

So when we were in Boston the other day loren got some foreign candy bars from Cardullo's for me. I've been working my way through them; I was down to my last one, a "Crunchie". I assumed I knew what was gonna be in there... I was so wrong. I guess I was thinking of "Flake" (same color scheme) but Crunchie seems to have a dense honeycomb-esque innards that tastes vaguely honey-like. Very vaguely.

I Control The Vertical, I Control The Horizontal

If there's a leading children's multimedia developer company in Boston that doesn't want to work with me, I don't know about 'em. I can't say here who I'm working for and who I've given a pass to, but it's a really odd position to be in such demand by all of the companies that, basically, I looked up to a few years ago. The industry must really be picking up again!

Ma Laise

I am bored. Or maybe just tired from two trips to Boston in three days, and crummy weather, and a messy desk. But I've got big plans for tonight: Deadwood season finale and maybe a trip to the bookstore.

Strange Birds

This morning Loren was watching "Blood Simple" one of my favorite movies. I mentioned one of my favorite shots, where a flock of birds flies off of a field, and how the shot means more because it had to be all-natural: no CGI to make a flock of birds. Flash forward to this evening: we watched "Kingdom Of Heaven", where at least two sets of CGI birds (really obvious, over-the-top CGI) make appearances. That is all.

E: Engadget; Gadgets -- not as good as gizmodo.
F: Flickr!; See my pictures! Pictures! Tags! Doggies!
G: Gizmodo; Gadgets -- better than engadget.
H: Hammy; Hasn't been updated in a while, I see.
I: Hampshire Intranet?!; Waste of time to try to change your address via this method; wait for them to call and ask for money.
J: Jalopnik; Car blog. Why I care about the world's longest limo is beyond me.
K: Kottke; Prototypical blog.
L: Google Local; I'm not convinced yet.
M: Mac Rumors; Why I need to read this obsessively is another mystery.
N: NY Times; Did you know? The New York Times has a website? And this is it?
O: Obscure Store; Funny, if a bit repetitive with regard to stories about old people driving into buildings.
P: Preshrunk; T-Shirt Blog! Sometimes good, sometimes not.

V: Verizon? How can you change the number of rings before your voicemail picks up? It's not on the website.
W: Waxy; a blog.
X: XBox IGN; I do not have an xbox nor do I care about what games it may have. When did I even visit this site?
Y: Yahoo Yellow Pages; until I am convinced about Google Local I'll still check here from force of habit.
Z: zefrank; headache-inducing, yet funny.

Tada!

I Town... Whose Town?

Went to Ithaca with the Loren this weekend. It was fun -- I believe I may have seen more gorges/waterfalls than I actually knew existed. Went to The Moosewoods [sic], had a party for Grandma, got annoyed at Parker the dog, etc. For some reason we brought back not only two kayaks, but also my hammered dulcimer. Great, three more things I'll never use. Whee!

Now my house is full of cardboard boxes... ARGH! I need to make the long-feared transition to The Plastic Tub, since the basement leaks.
