Ergo

A few months ago, my office chair (an IKEA special) broke. For a few weeks after that I just used one of the kitchen chairs until my wrist hurt too much. Then I bought a goofy-looking (but very comfortable) faux Aeron chair. It is very adjustable, so for a time I had it very high, and now I have it quite low. I think I now need to get my desk lower. Ay carumba! How can I do that? It is a door on a set of sawhorses! Either I need shorter sawhorses (easier said than done) or some dumb file cabinets to rest my door n, or something else. Any suggestions? My back hurts.

Nothing Is Revealed

Why, again, do I like the Lemony Snicket books so much? I just finished the newest (and penultimate). Despite Mr. Snicket's promise that the book would be a denouement and unravel all of the tightly wound threads of plot, the book does nothing of the sort. This book, more than any previous, is like the classic (and annoying) puzzle with the two villagers, one of whom always lies and the other always tells the truth, etc. And yet, with that puzzle, you can figure out what is going on. Maybe I need a little kid to explain this book to me. Also, how many Young Adult works of fiction reference Richard Wright's Native Son and Henri Bergson, noted French philosopher (I had to look him up)? Not too many.

Flickr is depressing

Obviously I enjoy Flickr as much as the next guy. But looking at the truly, stunningly amazing photos that appear in their "Explore" feature (and throughout the site) is depressing to me. I know my photos are okay, and I do take inspiration from some of the good photos on Flickr, but... Basically, what does it take for me to have a picture on this page? I try to make sure and judiciously add my photos to groups as appropriate. Maybe I need more flickr-friendsters. Annoying.
